Although most widely known for her portrayal of Cora on "Meet the Browns," the top-rated TBS sitcom from Tyler Perry, Tamela Mann first won notice for her remarkable vocal abilities. The Texas-born singer was featured on the first four releases from Kirk Franklin & The Family, then struck out on her own with Gotta Keep Movin', which sold over 100,000 units, and more recently, The Live Experience.
Her second studio recording The Master Plan features the bouncy, contemporary radio single “The Joy of the Lord,” but it also has its share of the soul-wrenching gospel blues for which she is best known. On the slowly simmering title track, for example, Tamela uses her mighty voice to encourage listeners to shake off the blues. Her message: Whenever you think nobody cares and wonder how bad things can happen to good people, remember that “God has a master plan.”
